What is the Community News?
The "community News" is a quarterly publication sponsored by the City of Rising Sun to provide not-for-profits, government agencies, and local businesses an opportunity to share information with the community. Copies of the publication will be mailed to each household in the county, and additional copies will be made available at locations throughout the county.

Who can contribute to the Community News?
Not-for-profit agencies, government units, and businesses with a presence in Ohio County are eligible to make contributions to the publication. Questions about eligibility should be directed the director at 812-438-2750.

What should my organization contribute?
Anything that is of public interest. Items could include notices about upcoming community events, pictures or original artwork, stories about the impact of programs in the community , or anything else of general interest. We reserve the right to edit submissions for content and space.

What is the cost to place articles or information in the publication?
Events for the "Community Calendar" may be placed free of charge. Additionally, not-for profit organizations and government agencies may submit information to be published free of charge. No business advertisements will be accepted for the first issue; there will be a nominal charge for placing business advertisements in subsequent issues.

What are the deadlines for making submissions to the paper?
Oct. 17, 2008 - Deadline for the November Newsletter
November 14, 2008 - Deadline for the December Newsletter

What file formats are best for submissions of materials?
We accept *.jpeg, *.gif, *.pdf, *.rtf, *.tiff, *.eps, *.txt, and *.bmp file formats. Please submit text and pictures separately, with notes in the text as to which pictures to use. All files are submitted should include your agency name in the file name, e.g. historic_downtown_events.txt.

Where do I submit materials for the paper?
Submissions emailed to news@news.bretzelpc.com. Submissions may also be dropped off at the Historic Downtown Office at 103 S. Walnut Street, Rising Sun, burned to a CD or DVD. All materials submitted must be in electronic format.
