Summer is almost here! The Community Pool will be open June 2 and will be filled with those trying to escape the summer heat. As will my boys and I. I am sure others can’t get enough of the pool; it is only recently that our community has been able to enjoy such a wonderful asset.
I get asked a lot what has Grand Victoria done for the town of Rising Sun. Since I am born-and-raised local talent, I always answer with the authority of an expert. I grew up when there was no pool, no beautiful riverfront, no Skate Park, no walking trials to enjoy and all the other nice things we now have.
When we take advantage of many of the wonderful amenities that our community is blessed with, it is important this summer to take a moment to be thankful. Thankful for the ability to have had the funds to construct such amenities, thankful for the leaders in our community to have the wisdom to realize the benefits of such additions and thankful for what we as a community have come together to create for future generations.
Please join us at our First Friday with “Music on Main,” “Cruise In”, and a “Southwest Art Show” featuring Herb Herrick and Luann Houser at the Pendleton Art Center. We learned a lot from our first one in May. This is going to grow into a fantastic community event, so please come enjoy the evening.
People do not realize how busy this little place is, so a new website has been created www.risingsuncalendar.com. Go to it for the most updated version of our local activities. Contact me if you would like to add an event.
May God watch over us all, especially, all the current military men and women.
